Quantity Surveyor

We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team, focusing on fitout projects. The successful candidate will have a strong background in quantity surveying within the fitout sector, demonstrating expertise in cost management, contract administration, and financial control. The QS will play a crucial role in ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.

Responsibilities

  1. Cost Management and Estimation:
    • Prepare detailed cost estimates for fitout projects.
    • Manage project budgets and perform cost analysis.
    • Monitor and control project expenditures.
  2. Contract Administration:
    • Prepare, review, and negotiate contracts and subcontracts.
    • Ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
    • Administer change orders and variations.
  3. Procurement and Vendor Management:
    • Source and evaluate suppliers and subcontractors.
    • Prepare and issue tender documents and evaluate responses.
    • Negotiate and manage procurement contracts.
  4. Project Financial Control:
    • Conduct regular cost reporting and forecasting.
    • Manage cash flow and progress payments.
    • Ensure accurate and timely invoicing.
  5. Risk Management:
    • Identify and assess project risks.
    • Develop and implement mitigation strategies.
    • Maintain risk registers and report on potential impacts.
  6. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Liaise with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients.
    • Attend site meetings and provide financial updates.
    • Prepare and present reports to stakeholders.
  7. Compliance and Documentation:
    • Ensure all work complies with relevant legislation, regulations, and standards.
    • Maintain comprehensive project documentation.
    • Assist in the preparation of final accounts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in quantity surveying within the fitout sector.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement, and cost control.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Membership in relevant professional bodies (e.g., RICS, AIQS) is an advantage.
